Darrah received her B.S. in Public Health and Community Medicine from the University of Washington and her M.S. in Developmental and Reproductive Biology at the University of Hawai'i. She is currently finishing her M.P.H. at the University of California at Berkeley. She began her career fueled by a passion against cancer at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, followed by the Institute for Biogenesis Research in Hawai’i.

Understanding the underlying cause of disease, Darrah began serving rural communities and fighting related health disparities. For eight years, she ran an organization providing ophthalmic care to villages across the globe. Establishing sustainable clinics, coordinating medical education, and providing sight-saving surgeries in over 20 countries, she learned to manage in the most remote of locations.

Bringing international experience home to her own people of Hawai’i, she now oversees Project Vision Hawai’i (PVH), an organization that provides mobile health and social services to rural, native, low-income, justice-involved, and unhoused communities across the island state. PVH plays a crucial role in disaster response, working with the Dept of Health in the fight against covid-19 for the vulnerable populations in Hawai’i, responding to the tragic Maui fires with the Department of Human Services, and standing up the first tiny home kauhales (villages) for the Governor’s office.

Project Vision Hawai’i has the largest mobile fleet in Hawai`i that provides statewide services in communities with significant access-to-care challenges related to income, lack of insurance, geographical location, or cultural conflict. PVH is the liaison between cultural, grassroot efforts and government systems.

A lifelong student of human development, health and well-being, Romey Glidewell’s extensive educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in nursing science from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Glidewell became a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and worked at an urgent care facility in Kailua. Glidewell’s philosophy addresses ailments of both the mind and body using allopathic diagnostics and medications to educate and orient patients toward a path of healing and health.

Glidewell joined the Hawai‘i Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) in 2009 and became the new Healthcare Division Administrator for the department in 2024. She hopes to inspire a new model of rehabilitative health practices in the state correctional system.

Marian Tsuji, MA Marian Tsuji was appointed to serve as Deputy Director of Behavioral Health at the Department of Health, effective June 28, 2021. Tsuji served as the O‘ahu Branch Administrator, state Department of Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation since 2020. She also spent 14 years as president and CEO of Lanakila Pacific, a social services organization that includes programs for adults with disabilities. Tsuji earned her M.A. in criminal justice from City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a B.A. in sociology and criminal justice from Long Island University, C.W. Post College. The Deputy Director of Behavioral Health assists the Director of Health in the management and administration of behavioral health programs and services and provides leadership as the state mental health and substance abuse authority. The deputy oversees four divisions: Adult Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Developmental Disabilities.

In 2016, Joey earned a Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Hawaiʻi, Mānoa. His research investigated underutilized forest resources to develop innovative building systems using the invasive albizia tree. This work ultimately led to the creation of The Albizia Project, an impact-driven organization dedicated to advancing wood innovations and manufacturing with locally sourced materials.

Beyond his architectural and woodworking expertise, Joey is deeply committed to environmental stewardship. Whether in the forest or the ocean, he leads efforts to restore the balance of nature through sustainable practices. His latest venture, Bizia Surf & Coffee Bar, blends his passion for craftsmanship and surf culture for a unique coffee experience within a gallery of specialty items and performance wood surfboards.
